From the beginning, these pioneers set about creating their versions of a new music called rock 'n' roll in their Oklahoma hometown of Tulsa. These guys were the first generation of what became known as the Tulsa Sound and they’ve seen and done just about everything that pop music has to offer. And now, for the first time, they've committed their stories to a full-length documentary film. For the purpose of telling the story of The Tulsa Sound as fully as possible, we’ve divided it into four parts.

This is the first episode called “The Beginners”. This part talks about the birth of Rock 'n' Roll in Tulsa, and how guys like JJ Cale, Leon Russell, Bill Pair, and Johnny Williams figured into it. Where did they come from? Why did they do it? How did they go over?
